Take a Flight to "Easter Island"

Our next flight is taking us to Easter Island. Which is a polynesian (a group of over 1,000 islands scattered over central and southern Pacific Ocean) island in the southeastern Pacific Ocean. A special territory of Chile that was annexed in 1888, Easter Island is famous for its 887 extant monumental statues, called moai, created by the early Rapanui people. The name "Easter Island" was given by the island's first recorded European visitor, the Dutch explorer Jacob Roggeveen, who encountered it on Easter Sunday 1722. Its total area is 631 square miles and has a population of 5,806 people. Easter Island is a volcanic high island, consisting mainly of three extinct coalesced volcanoes Terevaka,  Poike and Rano Kau. The climate of Easter Island is subtropical maritime. The lowest temperatures are recorded in July and August (18 °C or 64 °F) and the highest in February (maximum temperature 28 °C or 82 °F) . A retired teacher from my high school, Mrs. Gage sent me a post card from here while she was visiting and spoke of how beautiful it was there. So I figured I'd share with you all. Enjoy! Fitness Tip For The Week! "2 Tall glasses of water a day!"

Many people do not realize that a relative amount of calories we take in a day comes from what we drink. Drinking a pop here, a glass of juice there, some more pop later and then waking up at 2 in the morning craving some koolaid or juice, haha. All of that stuff adds up to a good amount of calories and sugar everyday. This causes your kidneys to get overloaded and your liver has to come to their aid to help digest those calories and sugar. In turn, taking the liver away from digesting food to its maximum ability resulting in a higher storage of fat, leaving us to become Big Homies. lol  My challenge for you is twice a day, when you think about buying a pop or juice you drink a tall glass of water. This will be the starting point to move towards 50/50  with water and other beverages a day, to mostly water and a small amount of other stuff. Drinking mostly water helps your kidneys to function more efficiently leaving your liver to the duty of digesting which will boost your metabolism, which can contribute to weight loss. 1 brick at a time (small step) and soon enough you will have your wall (your ultimate goal)!

Hope For Sophia

"Hope For Sophia" Sophia Gillihan-Irygoyen started out as a normal growing baby in the womb. About 4-5 months into the pregnancy, doctors noticed a sack growing on her stomach. Her liver & intestines were growing in the sack outside of the body. She had to have 2 surgeries within 5 days of being born to fix this. But it didnt stop there. Complications with her lungs required her to need a 24hrs breathing tube. After 63 days in the hospital she was finally able to go home to be with her 5 year old sister. Only 8 weeks home because of complications with growing, she had to have a 3rd surgery for a feeding tube to her stomach, plus repair a hernia and more. She was suppose to be able go home but now her little heart and lungs are creating issues. She is on day #22 now in the hospital in an induced coma with the breathing tube because her lungs arent strong enough for her to breathe on her own. Within the next few months she will need more surgeries including a Thoracotomy (part of her lung removed), open heart surgery to repair a hole in the heart and a possible tracheostomy (breathing tube through her throat). I personally know little Sophia, She is my girlfriends niece. I've played with this little girl and have seen her smile and laugh. Through all of this I have seen her cry maybe 3 times. She is by far one of the toughest babies I've ever seen. She has only been alive for 6 months people, and going to real problems like these, yet she is still fighting. We easily forget how fortunate we were to be born healthy without complication. Sophia didn't receive that luxury. But we all can do something to help her experience the luxury of a child hood. The family has started a donation website. Hope For Sophia http://www.giveforward.com/hopeforsophia We all know how quick medical bills pile up. Thats why I am asking for your help people. Any monetary value donation would be greatly greatly greatly appreciated. We also ask to please add her in your prayers. Thank you to all of my great people in advance for your love and support. Be Blessed my people's.

Boy's Lemonade Stand Raises $80,000 for Cancer Research

When Max Igoe was 5 years old, His mother's best friend Beth Rorman, 37, lost her battle with breast cancer. Seeing the pain of his mother, a young 5 year old decided to make a stand against cancer. He started a lemonade stand to raise money towards a cure. "It's just the first thing that popped into my head," said Max, Now 14 years old. He told his mom that the money raised from the stand would go towards breast cancer research and maybe even help them discover a cure. "I explained to him that it wasn't the olden days that people don't buy lemonade from peoples' driveways like they used to,"says Nicki, Max's mother. But she didn't want to discourage him especially while he was mourning his "Auntie Beth's" passing. So she has been helping him mix juice, prop up tables to distribute hundreds of gallons of sweet pink lemonade, numerous raffles, "casino-night" fundraisers and days of labor for the last 9 years. Max has surpassed his wildest dreams by earning over $80,000 and still going. His goal is 1 million dollars and a cure. Lemonade-Stand-for-Cancer-Research Video We can all learn from Max's selfless actions at such a young age. Which goes to show that you don't have to have an abundance of things or money to help others. You just have to find something you believe in that's a bigger cause or something bigger than yourself. Find your way to help the world.

"The Sparkle Effect"

There is a new epidemic flooding across the nation. Something called "The Sparkle Effect". It is a program with the High School Cheerleaders across the United States. They are adding students with special needs to the squads. "The Sparkle Effect" is a student-run program that helps create Dance Teams and Cheerleading squads that adds students with disabilities and special needs to help give confidence in a social environments. There are actually grants available to help with the purchases of uniforms and equipment. I look at this and think about the positive impact of being on a team had for me. I learned teamwork, dedication, responsibility, perseverance, social interaction, and belief just to name a few. Being apart of a team gives you something that is bigger than yourself and gives you something to fight for. I was blessed to have the opportunity to experience that and now, thanks to these high school kids, students with disabilities and special needs will experience the same thing.

Relationship Advice from Barry BA Bailey

A womans need for attention will make her believe the man doesnt care...
A mans need for sex will make him seem like its all he wants...
We are different species who expect different things from each other and complain when they are not present when the fact is, nobody wants to take the risk and give more than they receive because the trust between us is fading. Men use women, Women use men. Truth hurts, reality stings, love bites and trust is tricky...Life is about risks...take em or die

Boy, 8, donates $1,000 prize to little girl, 2, with leukemia

Wyatt ,8, was told by his mother about the First Clover Leaf Bank’s summer Scavenger Hunt. The winner would receive a cool $1,000! Immediately he said  "Let’s do this to help Cara!" Cara Kielty is a 2 year old girl who lives on the same block as Wyatt and she was diagnosed with Leukemia in May of this year. With the inspiration of doing something completely free of self benefit, Wyatt won the scavenger hunt. He immediately called Cara's mom and said "I won!" she replied "No you didn't" He insisted "Yes I did!" She responded "No you didn't--You're joking" then he said "Here! Talk to my mom". Once the Kielty's realized Wyatt did actually win they couldn't imagine taking money from a 8 year old. Trisha Kielty said “My husband said the same thing. We’re adults — that would be ridiculous, right?” But once Wyatt won he asked his parents “How much chemotherapy will this buy Cara?” After much persuasion the Kielty's realized how much this meant to Wyatt to be able to help. “I didn’t know what I would do with $1,000,” Wyatt said. “But I knew what (the Kieltys) could do with it. I knew they weren’t getting a lot of work done, because they were taking care of Cara all the time.”...........This shows us the power and ability we have and the things we can achieve if from time to time we would just take ourselves out of the equation and do something for someone else. No one told this 8 year old boy that he had to do it, he saw someone in need and acted on it. Let's learn from Wyatt and do the same for someone this week!
